Reglazing means fitting a frame you already own with a fresh set of lenses, matched to your current prescription. The frame itself does not need to come from us. It might be a pair bought at a high street optician years ago, a designer style picked up abroad, a hand-me-down, or a second-hand find with a shape that is hard to replace. If the frame is structurally sound, we can very likely work with it.

Can I Reglaze Frames Bought Elsewhere?

It is easy to assume reglazing only applies to glasses purchased from Factory Glasses Direct . It does not. Customers send us frames from all sorts of places, including brands we do not stock ourselves, and the process works the same way. What matters is the condition of the frame, not where it came from.

This is useful for anyone holding on to a pair with real sentimental or practical value: a discontinued design, a gift, a frame that took a long time to track down in the right shape and colour. Reglazing keeps that frame in use instead of retiring it because the prescription has moved on.

Our reglazing service covers the same lens options available across the rest of our range, including distance, reading, computer, varifocal, bifocal and frames only, with clear, transition, sunglass tint and blue light enhancements available on top. A pair of sunglasses with no prescription at all can be reglazed the same way, fitting a lens type the frame never had in the first place.

Why Reglaze Rather Than Replace

The most obvious reason is cost. Reglazing removes the price of a second frame entirely, which fits neatly with our factory prices model of cutting out the high street markup on the parts of the process that matter most, the lenses themselves.

There is a fit argument too. A frame worn in over months or years sits differently to a brand new pair straight out of the box, and that is not something a replacement automatically matches. Add in the difficulty of finding an identical shape again once a style is discontinued, and reglazing often makes more sense than starting over.
