Aviator

The brief given to Bausch and Lomb in 1936 was practical. Design a frame that would protect US military pilots from glare at altitude without blocking their field of vision. What they created became one of the most enduring shapes in eyewear history. The teardrop lens, the slim metal bridge, the slight downward curve of the frame. None of it has changed in any meaningful way over nearly ninety years of continuous production. There is something almost architectural about a design that resolves itself so perfectly the first time.

As prescription frames, aviators suit rectangular and longer faces well, where the curved lower lens softens angular features without making the look appear heavy. On oval faces, the proportions sit just as naturally.

Lens options include distance, reading, varifocal, bifocal, and computer lenses, covering every prescription need. Blue light filtering is available for extended screen use, and transition lenses are suitable for those who frequently move between indoor and outdoor environments.
